Researching Online Multimedia Tools
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT PROGRAM.
Microsoft Powerpoint (2007) is a free program which is found on home computers and laptops with a Windows Operating System, it's very versatile as it allows people to add sound effects, images, videos from both the computer and the internet and edit their own text with effects such as Wordart.
I find using Powerpoint very easy to use, the buttons are easy to find and are simple to use. If I ever need help working the program I can always click the Help button (F1) and it can explain the program better with lots of helpful tips.
It isn't possible for more than one person to work on the powerpoint presentation at the same time, as information may be overwritten and not saved properly. But the presentation can be saved more than once on a variety of devices. This does not affect the users however because I am working on the presentation by myself and not with another person.

WIX.
It is very versatile, allowing users to insert their own images, music/audio files, videos and a variety of text. It gives users complete control over the design of the website. It is also very easy to use, as the buttons are in the viewers direct eyesight, and each button is labelled with an illustration to make it easier for people to view the buttons and understand their function. All of this is shown in the picture above.
Since you are making a website, you are able to send out the website link (URL) out to others and they can easily access your website without making any changes to it. Only people with the login details can change features of the Wix website. It also easy to find the website as Wix instantly puts your website on search engines such as Google or Bing.

With the assistance of the graph featured, you can see that the speed of the CPU's have changed dramatically in the past 30 years or so. In 1974 it was only about 2MHz in speed, but now the speed is around the amount of3.6 GHz. This basically shows the speed has only increased and developed through to the present. Leading to new advancements in technology, the speed has reached to an amazing 1 GHz meaning 1000 000 000 periods per second for a CPU.
4) What does MIPS measure?
MIPS represents Million Instructions Per Second, this measures the performance of a CPU. This can give people a general perception of the power of their CPU. Basically showing how many million instructions it can generate also complete per each second.
5) Research what is a dual core processor, what is multitasking and how do the two work together?
Dual core processors also considered as multi - core processors are single computing components with two or more independent processors which assist in helping to read executing instructions given out by computer programs. Multi tasking is the skill to execute more than one task at the same time. Multiprocessing and Multitasking are worlds offten used to describe this, although multiprocessing means that more than one CPU is in use, whilst multitasking means that only CPU is being used but switched from one software to another is in such a rapid speed that it gives the appearance of running the programs all at the exact same time.

MID is an ideal for consumer - class lifestyle. It works with a lightweight OS with a rapid startup much like Linux. Features such as media playback and web surfing is also included.
2) What are the differences between a Notebook handheld computing device and a Netbook handheld computing device?
Notebooks and Netbooks simply use the same basic form factor, the main aspect is the size. The form factor is of a computer with two major elements; a screen and a keyboard connected by hinges. Netbook computers are usually smaller as well as lighter than notebooks. There has not been given any specific size or weight classes for these computers. Netbooks have been created the way it is, for the Internet. It assists in communication, learning and viewing information. They have a compact form factor of around 7 to 10 inches and occasionally light weight. Netbooks consist of longer batter life than notebooks, and are less reliant on a charger. Netbooks can be easily carried and moved from one place to another, as it is very light and small. In the case of internet connection, they have many methods such as for intance wireless.
3) Describe the design & features of the Apple Ipad then discuss how it compares with a Netbook.
The Apple iPad consists of various features such as: facetime, HD video, pinch in zoom, applications, touch screen, 10 hour battery, amazing graphics, music, HD videos, LED display, YouTube, Multi touch, Wi-Fi and 3G, iBooks, high quality games, HD photos and many more. iPads are quite small and light, making it easier to carry than a netbook. Networks are preffered in cases of using for business and/or work, since it has a keyboard. iPad's have a touch screen which for many can be frustrating although for others, easy. The iPad is seen as more user friendly than a netbook, for example pinch in zoom.
4) Notebook, netbook & Ipad; which one would suit your needs and why?
If it were for me to choose, I would choose a netbook. The reasons for this choice, is first of all, since its portable, and very light, so I can take it anywhere. The battery life lasts quite long, so I dont have to worry about keeping it on charger all day. There are a variety of ways to connect to an internet connection, which is quite good, just incase the usual wireless, doesnt work. Netbooks, also have a keyboard, comparing it to iPad, it would be difficult to use, if I was to do work on it. Netbooks, in my opinion are better than notebooks especially, since I would like to take my netbook everywhere, and notebooks are quite big and heavy, otherwise notebooks would be my choice. iPads in my opinion for me would only be used for entertainment, such as to listen to music, play games, watch videos, and talk to family and friends, not to use as my other "computer". Netbooks is my choice, it suits my daily routine and is easy to work with.
5) If I was looking for a UMPC device with a screen size of 10 in or less, which would you recommend? Justify your choice. The UMPC device, I would recommend would be the Samsung Galaxy tablet. This tablet consists of a variety of features. Firstly has a 7 inch screen, creates voice and video calls as well as includes music, videos and several applications and games. This tablet, is quite light and small, making it easy to carry, but at the same time still having the amazing graphics and detail. Things such as internet use for the galaxy tablet, is well commended for its outstanding consistency.

How would you envisage students five years from now using one of these devices at school. Select any UMPC / MID device that you have researched that would meet a students needs. Justify your choice.
The Lenovo Ideapad P1. Lightweight Tablet with Digitiser, Multi-Boot Possibilities is the device I have chosen, that satisfies a students needs. Lenovo IdeaPad is an appropriate size, compatible with Windows and has a very lightweight body. The screen being a generous size of 10", with clear resolution and high graphics as well as being a touch screen, altogether is easy to use. In my opinion, this device would meet a students neccessaties and requirements, as it is portable, versatile and light weighted making it easy to take to places. The Lenovo Ideapad P1 can be used for work based tasks, music and media files, as well as just for your own amusement, with games and applications. This tablet would be worthwhile for schools also, as the cost is lower, and students would find it easier to hold, in comparison to laptops and desktops due to their slim lightweight bodies.
